Size of pool table pockets varies from their position. For instance, corner pockets have a width equal to the size of two billiard balls — 11.4-11.7 cm. While side pockets have mouths of 12.7-13.3 cm. Side pockets are always a little bigger than the corner pockets.

British-style pool table or regulation snooker pocket openings have a rounded profile pocket opening. The pocket openings are smaller and the table is slightly more challenging to play on. The corner pocket mouth is 3 3/8” to 3 5/8” and the side pocket mouth is 4 1/16” to 4 5/16”.

Snooker Tables Are Heated.

Snooker tables are indeed often heated, a lesser-known but significant aspect of professional snooker play. Unlike standard pool tables, high-quality snooker tables often feature a heating system beneath the baize surface.

This heating is designed to maintain a consistent temperature of around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius (77 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit), which ensures the optimal condition of the cloth and reduces moisture.

Pool billiards table:

There are several different ways to mark a pool table playing surface with lines and spots.

1. Minimal pool table markings:

Placing 2 black spots on the pool table playing surface is sufficient for the recreational pool player that prefers a clean and uncluttered look. Black spots should be placed on the head spot and the foot spot.

2. Traditional pool table markings:

A black line is draw across the width of the pool table through the head spot. This line is called the head line or baulk line. One black spot is placed on the foot spot.

3. Mark a pool table to play both pool and snooker:

Good for players who are interested in playing snooker as well as pool. The baulk line is drawn across the width of the billiard table (closer to the head rail than for traditional pool). A semi-circle or “D” is drawn on the head side of the baulk line. Six black spots are placed on the playing surface to mark the coloured snooker balls positions.

Carom billiards table

The slate bed of a carom billiard table is often heated to about 5 °C (9 °F) above room temperature, which helps to keep moisture out of the cloth to aid the balls rolling and rebounding in a consistent manner, and generally makes a table play faster.

Why 1-3-4-2 firing order is preferred than the 1-2-3-4 in 4 cylinder engines?

The firing order must be considered on the basis of engine vibrations and engine cooling. Also the firing order affects the balancing of the engine.

Reasons for preferring 1-3-4-2 than the 1-2-3-4 in 4 cylinder engine:

1. The power impulses are evenly distributed and are 180 degrees apart. Therefore the firing order for the engine is 1-3-4-
2. This balance load on two bearings would be further reducing the engine vibrations.
3. It is required to cool the portion of the engine by changing the sequence. So that problem of overheating can be mitigated.
4. To provide sufficient travel time to exhaust gases. So that development of high back pressure would be avoided.
